Faraus's Med Text is required to recruit Faraus. Talk to him to find out that he left it at the Olacion Order when he left for Vareth Magic Institute, but he's too afraid of the reaction he'd receive to go back and get it himself. Go to Olacion and speak to Kain, who is more than happy to hand it over, as well as wish Faraus luck. Return the text to Faraus and he'll become your friend.
